Slow journey between taste and beauty.
Valtellina is in the heart of the Alps, embraced by mountains and Lake Como, a step away from Milan and Switzerland.
A land of unspoilt mountains and valleys, great red wines from daring terracing: this is Valtellina. Around the Wine Road you can experience intense and authentic flavours, among nature and local products, respecting the environment and in harmony with the landscape.
Along the Valtellina Wine Road
Along the 67 km of the fascinating road from Ardenno to Tirano, you will pass through the Chiavennasca vineyards, where the Nebbiolo of the Alps matures: you will be able to see the Maroggia, Sassella, Grumello, Inferno and Valgella areas up close. As you walk along these slopes, you will realise the hard work that goes into making a wine that is unique for its history and production method. Enjoying the charm of the terraces and views, you will have the opportunity to spend hours of silence and relaxation discovering ancient flavours and small historic villages, crossing the entire valley between evocative views, curves and paved roads.
Intangible heritage, cultural heritage
The terraced vineyards of Valtellina tell a story in which human, social, historical and cultural events have improved the characteristics of an area. An enchanting corner of the Italian Alps that has been on the UNESCO list of sites since 2018: the art of building dry-stone walls is now an Intangible Heritage. The value of the terraced vineyards goes beyond agricultural exploitation, each little wall tells a story of community, cohesion and hard work, true monuments testifying to the tenacity of those who created them yesterday and preserve them today.
Taste of emotion
Trekking on paths immersed in natural parks, cycling along the dense network of tracks and cycle paths, horse riding on the banks of the Adda, rafting, soaking in thermal waters, playing golf at altitude, skiing even in summer, crossing the Alps on a panoramic train. All this, and much more, is possible in Valtellina.
