Bar Vicini Wine Bistrot

Recognised by the Region of Lombardy as “Locale Storico” since 1925. Bar Vicini - Wine Bistrot is located in the beautiful historic centre of Chiavenna, in the evocative Piazza Pestalozzi.

An old shop dating back to the end of the 19th century, it later became the historic bar of the small town of Mera, which over the years has been renovated and modernised in line with the flow of tourists and locals who always make Chiavenna come alive.

Since September 2020, the De Pedrini brothers, Andrea and Paolo, local entrepreneurs, have taken over the reins of the bar. Thanks to a modernisation, while safeguarding and enhancing the historical part of the venue, the creation of the kitchen and the wine cellar transformed the bar into a wine bar with kitchen. A very friendly and informal place open from the morning with artisanal coffee and fresh pastries, quick and light lunchtime cuisine, aperitifs with a focus on wine served with platters and appetisers with local products, fish dinners and cocktail bar until midnight.

The kitchen wants to differentiate itself from others by offering simple dishes accessible to all and is open all day: bruschetta, fresh pasta, pizza, salads and tartare with a contemporary twist. In the evening, seafood cuisine without forgetting tradition. Cured meats, cheeses and meat come from the small shops in the valley, and quality is the main feature.

The cellar is home to almost 200 producers and around 500 labels, including many local wines. The proposal of wines by the glass varies weekly with always different labels, every week you can taste about 15 wines including white, red, rosé and sparkling wines from Valtellina. During the summer, the veranda overlooking the piazza makes it a magical and relaxing place suitable for all lovers of the good and beautiful.
