Le Strie

LE STRIE winery was established in 2003 by Stefano, Paolo, Luciana and Marisa, the owners. It is a special winery, because no one of the founders were born in Valtellina: the wine producing region where their winery is based. Paolo and Marisa come from Venice, Luciana comes from Le Marche region and Stefano comes from Rome. Their story starts back in 1993, when Paolo and Stefano arrived in Valtellina to work and meet each other.

Both of them graduated in agricoltural science, and were working in local agricoltural field while Luciana and Marisa, their wifes, were dealing with completely different matters. Paolo and Stefano started growing small vineyards and up to 2001 they sold the grapes to a local big company. In 2002 they decided, along with their wifes, to make wine on their own: the adventure finally started!

LE STRIE winery aim was very simple: to make “territory” wines in order to  enhance the features of Nebbiolo grape variety grown in a unique terroir: Valtellina wine producing region. LE STRIE winery currently produces, on average, about ten thousand bottles per year. The wines are: Valtellina Superiore docg, Valtellina Superiore Sassella Riserva docg, Sforzato di Valtellina docg, Rosso di Valtellina doc, Alpi Retiche Nebbiolo igt. All the wines are red and come from 100% Nebbiolo grapes.
